How to Store Gold
Storage is the question every new owner asks, and the answer is calmer than people expect. You have three good options; the right one depends on how much you hold and how you want to access it.

In short: Home storage in a proper safe suits most starting holdings; a bank safe deposit box adds separation; professional vaulting suits larger positions. Whichever you choose, tell your insurer what needs covering and keep quiet about what you own.
At home
Coins take remarkably little space: tens of thousands of pounds fits in a hand. A quality safe, properly bolted down and discreetly placed, is the usual answer. Check your home insurance covers the value, as standard policies have limits for valuables and may need the holding declared or the safe specified. The golden rule of home storage is discretion: the fewer people who know, the safer it is.
Safe deposit boxes
A bank or private vault box moves the gold out of your home for a modest annual fee. Access is limited to opening hours, and you should confirm what insurance is included, as boxes are not automatically covered. It suits owners who want separation without a full vaulting service.
Professional vaults
For larger holdings, specialist vaulting offers high security and insurance arranged for you, in your name, for a percentage-based annual fee. You give up the coin-in-hand quality, but gain institutional-grade protection.
Whatever you choose
Keep your purchase records somewhere separate from the gold, make sure one trusted person or your executor knows the arrangements, and revisit the setup as the holding grows.
